What is supercurricular learning?
Our supercurricular hub brings together a range of digital resources designed to support academic enrichment, independent thinking and subject exploration. Whether you are discovering a subject for the first time or looking to deepen your understanding, the hub provides opportunities to engage with ideas through lectures, articles, podcasts, videos, interactive challenges and more.
Supercurricular learning involves exploring the subjects that interest you beyond what you study at school. It means investigating questions, encountering different perspectives and developing the curiosity and critical thinking that underpin academic study.
User Guide - Supercurricular hub
The hub is organised to support different stages of learning and engagement.
You may already have a clear idea of what interests you or you might still be exploring. You could be drawn to a specific topic or a broader subject area. Take a look at the categories and follow where your curiosity leads.
Within each age section, you will find resources grouped by subject. For students over 16, resources are also listed according to the Oxford undergraduate courses most closely related to these broader topics. Some areas may be unfamiliar, but they are well worth exploring - you might discover something new and unexpected.
Throughout, there are suggestions for books and articles, along with recommendations for podcasts, videos, challenges, competitions and more. Whatever type of content you most enjoy, we hope you will find something to inspire you to explore further.
You might begin with a short lecture, an article, or a podcast that introduces a new idea. From there, follow up with suggested activities and further resources to help you think critically - make connections, ask questions, and challenge the ideas you have encountered.
By engaging with these resources you may also develop a clearer sense of what you would like to study at university, while building the skills needed for higher-level study. If you are preparing to apply to Oxford, you may find materials here to inspire your UCAS personal statement and support your interview preparation if you are shortlisted.
