Six tips for studying effectively
Create a study plan
A study plan is a great way to help motivate you to study. How you choose to create one is up to you. You might want to add calendar reminders to your phone or even use a wall planner. More information on how to create a study plan can be found on the Oxford Students website. There is also a short video on the website about how to manage your time.

Oxford's Carbon Management Programme wins a BIFM Award
The British Institute of Facilities Management held its annual awards ceremony this week, and the University won one of five Impact Awards for our 'Impact on the Environment'.
The award was issued in recognition of our Carbon Management Programme, which delivers the University’s Carbon Management Strategy.

Society Spotlight: African and Caribbean Society
Before coming to Oxford last year, I was aware that the University has a very small number of ethnic minority students. My parents asked me if I was concerned about this and I said no. The reality is, this is no more keenly felt than in the African and Caribbean demographic of the University and the statistics to show this are countless. Starting life at Oxford, or any university, will present challenges to any fresher.

Get active at Oxford
The campaign gives advice on getting active in different ways – from walking outside during study breaks to taking part in exercise classes, or joining one of Oxford’s wide range of sports clubs. It also encourages taking part in physical activity in a responsible way - balancing any sporting commitments with your studies.

#StartedinOxford Demo Night
The #StartedinOxford Demo Night is a celebration of the Oxford startup scene and a showcase of some of the best early stage startups in and around Oxford.
You must be able to attend the whole evening plus a briefing breakfast (Thursday 1 November, 8-10am), and have materials to create a small stand.
Applications close Monday 15 October and all successful applicants will be notified by Monday 22 October.

The 2019 Laidlaw Undergraduate Research & Leadership Programme is now recruiting. As well as the stipend, Laidlaw Scholars receive leadership training and the opportunity to network with scholars across disciplines – ideal if you’re considering postgraduate study or a research career.
Visit the Sheldonian Theatre between 3pm and 5pm on Friday 19 October to meet previous Scholars, discover how they spent their summers, and find out how you can apply.
