Central PCER team

The University’s central PCER team are responsible for, among other things:

  • setting the University’s public and community engagement with research strategy
  • convening and acting as secretariat for the PCER Advisory Board
  • reporting on institutional matters concerning public and community engagement with research (e.g., KEF)
  • capturing the collective impact of the university’s public and community engagement with research efforts
  • managing the PCER Fund and other centrally distributed funds (e.g., Research England’s Participatory Research Fund).

More generally, the team’s work is CLEAR; that is, they:

  • Convene – bring relevant stakeholders across and beyond the University together
  • Lead – set the direction of travel for public and community engagement with research, in consultation with the PCER Advisory Board and others
  • Enhance – work to improve engagement practice across the University
  • Activate – get engagement to happen, for example by providing funding and other opportunities
  • Reflect/review – capture and learn from what’s happened to improve our practice and hold ourselves to account
