Current opportunities to join University Committees and Working Groups as a Researcher Representative

If so, see the following opportunities that are open to all fixed term research and teaching staff.
1. People Committee
Background
People Committee is seeking a research staff representative to join the Committee. People Committee is one of the five main committees of the University’s Council. It is responsible for personnel and equality matters connected with the University’s 16,300 employees. The Committee is responsible for those aspects of the Strategic Plan that relate to People, including:
- People Commitment Three: To support staff in personal and professional development, and
- Priority 18 [To] Review and improve our current arrangements to support the personal and career development of all staff.
This is great opportunity to learn about the above strategy and to represent research staff perspective on emerging policy. People Committee is chaired by Professor Anne Trefethen, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (People and Digital).

Time Commitment
People Committee meets seven times per year and papers are circulated in advance. Induction meetings will be offered to the selected researcher representative.
Engagement with researcher community and other researcher reps
The representative on People Committee will also be asked to engage in two-way communication about the non-confidential work of the Committee via an MS Team shared with members of the Research Staff Consultation Group.

2. Consultative Committee for Health and Safety (CCHS)
Background:
CCHS is seeking a researcher from the Humanities or Social Sciences Divisions to join the Committee. CCHS is the consultative forum on health and safety and their activities relate to:
- People issues relating to safety culture and to work-related stress and wellbeing;
- Research at the University and in relation to travel and fieldwork, including vicarious trauma;
- Staff and student feedback on implementation of health, safety, and environmental policies.
Meeting commitments:
CCHS meets once per term and and papers are circulated in advance. Induction meetings will be offered to the selected researcher representative.
Engagement with researcher community and other researcher reps
The reps on CCHS will also be asked to engage in two-way communication about the non-confidential work of the Committee via a SharePoint site shared with members of the Research Staff Consultation Group.

3. Open Access Steering Committee
Background
The Open Access Steering Group (OASC) is seeking a researcher from the to join the Committee. OASC advises on changes to the University Open Access Publications Policy, including allocation for Open Access block grants to ensure funds are allocated equitably. The Committee provide oversight and coordination on all matters open access. Consumers and service providers are represented. The Committee is accountable to the Research and Innovation Committee

OASC meets twice per term and and papers are circulated in advance. Induction meetings will be offered to the selected researcher representative.

The reps on OASC will also be asked to engage in two-way communication about the non-confidential work of the Committee via a SharePoint site shared with members of the Research Staff Consultation Group.
