You might think that virtual reality is purely for gamers. Think again!
By wearing a virtual reality headset to see and inhabit an artificial world, this tech can revolutionise the way we look after our mental health.
Using psychological expertise, an Oxford University spinout company called Nowican have created online therapy sessions run by a downloaded therapist who guides you through the virtual experience. Simulated environments allow you to practise dealing with difficult situations.
Because it’s downloaded, there’s no need to book an appointment! Each session lasts for twenty minutes at a time, and means mental health treatment is digestible, easy to access, and comes with you wherever and whenever you want.
The activities are interactive, entertaining, and clinically proven to be effective. It could mean big changes in the way we deal with psychological health and self reliance: evidence-based coaching when and where you need it — at home or work!
