Support

Below are some potential questions that you may have and issues that you could possibly encounter. Please follow the recommended steps before reporting a problem with MyOxford.

The following information will help resolve questions relating to:

Solutions

MyOxford shows an error message or is blank when I try to open it.

If you have previously successfully downloaded and opened MyOxford,

  • Check that your internet connection is working
  • If it does, check the status of the MyOxford service
  • If the service shows as available and working as usual, please report the problem through IT Self Service.
  • If you see that the service is Partial or Unavailable, please try again later and please do not report the problem to us as we will be already aware.

My college dashboard does not display or a different college dashboard is being displayed

Your student information may not have been fully updated yet. If this problem occurs when accessing your college systems on other devices, please report this to your college administrator and retry when resolved. If the problem occurs only on MyOxford, please report it through IT Self Service.

My Division, Department, Faculty, School is not shown / unavailable.

  • MyOxford does not currently display this information as it focuses on the central services and those related to the college.
  • The MyOxford team will be keen to hear your views on what information would be beneficial to students and invite you to send us a comment via the ‘Send Feedback’ form. On mobile, press the three parallel lines at the top left on the screen and go to ‘Send Feedback’. On desktop, you can find the ‘Send Feedback’ button at the top left of the screen, under the University of Oxford logo.

I cannot access the Saïd Business School Systems via MyOxford

As you may be aware, Saïd Business School have a number of systems exclusive to their department. At this moment in time, these systems have not been linked in MyOxford which means you won't be able to see your emails, calendar, Canvas, assessment and careers resources. This will affect your University dashboard, but you will still have access to library resources, University news, and information pages through the light blue and green tiles. Your college dashboard will remain unaffected and should continue to work smoothly.

However, development is ongoing, and we welcome any feedback you may have.

In the meantime, please refer to the Saïd Business School’s Canvas at: https://canvas.sbs.ox.ac.uk/.

don’t like the displayed tile colours or tile size.

You can configure how you view your MyOxford dashboard. The 'Personalise' button is available on the top left of the header on a desktop and behind the 3 dots on the main screen of the downloadable app. This allows you to personalise your layout settings, themes, tile sizes and position.

don’t see some of the tiles that I would expect to see on the dashboard.

Some the tiles are hidden by default but can be displayed should you choose to. You can view hidden tiles by going to ‘Personalise’ and then pressing ’Hidden Tiles’. The 'Personalise' button is available on the top left of the header on a desktop and behind the 3 dots on the main screen of the downloadable app.

I made some changes to MyOxford but want to set it back to the original configuration.

Resetting MyOxford to restore the screen to its default setting is straightforward and does not result in data loss. To reset, go to ‘Personalise’ and then press ’Reset Settings’. The 'Personalise' button is available on the top left of the header on a desktop and behind the 3 dots on the main screen of the downloadable app.

Within my college dashboard, some of my college’s systems or links to resources appear to be missing or do not work as expected.

  • Each college has its own unique dashboard and what is displayed may vary significantly between colleges. Students from different colleges are likely to notice these dissimilarities when comparing available systems and resources. This is typically not a problem with MyOxford but variation in the student experience between colleges.
  • If a particular displayed tile within your college dashboard does not appear to be working but others are functioning correctly, please refer to your college IT team or the person/group that supports you within your college. An effective way to check this yourself is to use another device (if available) and try to access the service or resource outside MyOxford.
  • If you are unsure, please report the problem through IT Self Service.

My main University Calendar and/or email is not displaying or updating.

  • Before reporting a problem, please try to access your email or calendar from outside the MyOxford app. This will help identify if the problem is specific to the service OR MyOxford
  • Note: You may have colour-coded your Microsoft 365 calendar and noticed that it does not display in the same way once it has been integrated into the My Calendar tile. Unfortunately, at this time, MyOxford does not support Microsoft 365 personalisation however, we are working to improving this functionality in the future. We apologise for any inconvenience.
  • If you are experiencing issues with your calendar outside MyOxford, you may find help and support using the following link  https://www.it.ox.ac.uk/find-help-and-support
  • If the problem is specifically accessing calendar and email via MyOxford, please report it through IT Self Service.

The Canvas tile does not work.

  • You must be set up to use Canvas before you can access course materials. You can test this by going to https://login.canvas.ox.ac.uk/ and attempting to access by clicking ‘Oxford Users. If you can login to Canvas directly but not via MyOxford, please report this using IT Self Service and the team will investigate.
  • Note: If you can access Canvas via the tile but your course materials are missing, this is not a MyOxford problem. Please refer the issue to your course administrator.

  • If problems are experienced accessing Oxford Talks via the MyOxford App, please try browsing directly to https://talks.ox.ac.uk/ from outside the MyOxford app to determine if this is a more general problem or specific to MyOxford

I cannot log in to Teaching Management System (TMS).

  • TMS requires students to register before access is granted and a warning stating ‘Unauthorised Access’ will be displayed. If this is the case, follow the on-screen instructions to request access.
  • If the link in MyOxford to TMS is not working, please report the problem through IT Self Service.

I have a problem using Maps and Accessibility.

  • Please note that Maps and Access does NOT currently support GPS locations, and it operates as a static map without indicating your current position.
  • For all other queries, If the problem is specifically accessing calendar and email via MyOxford,  please report

I cannot access Moodle.

  • Moodle is an alternative Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to the centrally supported Canvas VLE. It is used by the Mathematical Institute, the Department of Computer Science and some short courses run by the Department for Continuing Education.
  • If you are on a course or undertaking a programme of study with one of these departments and require Moodle, access is administered locally within the department.

  • For all problems accessing Moodle via MyOxford, please attempt to access Moodle outside MyOxford to check that it works. If it does not, please refer to the course administrator. If Moodle is working correctly but not in MyOxford, please report the problem through IT Self Service.

I am experiencing a different problem to those above or I have not been able to resolve myself and I would like to request support from the MyOxford team.
