Prizes and awards
The University has a number of prizes and awards available for academic achievement.
Prize list
| Archaeology and Anthropology | Various prizes are available for students from the School of Archaeology. |
| Art | The University offers a range of annual prizes and awards to Fine Art students. |
| Biochemistry | Prizes are awarded based on performance in University exams. |
| Chemistry | Prizes are awarded annually by the Examiners to undergraduate students to recognise outstanding performance in the written examinations, practical work, and the Part II project. Please note webpage access is restricted to Chemistry students only. |
| Classics | Prizes are on offer to reward performance in undergraduate examinations. Please note webpage access is restricted to Classics students only. |
| Economics | Undergraduate prizes are available in a range of Economics subjects. |
| English Language and Literature | Various prizes are available for students from the Faculty of English. |
| Gibbs Prizes (all departments) | Gibbs Prizes will be awarded based on the results of coursework and public examinations. |
| Geography | Prizes are on offer to reward performance in undergraduate examinations. |
| History: undergraduate and graduate | Various prizes are available for students from the Faculty of History. |
| Law: undergraduate and graduate | Undergraduate and graduate students deemed to have submitted the best paper in a wide range of subject areas are eligible for awards presented by the Faculty of Law. |
| Materials | There are numerous prizes awarded each year to both undergraduate and postgraduate students to recognise outstanding achievements. |
| Mathematics and Statistics | Prizes are awarded annually by the Examiners to undergraduate students to recognise outstanding performance in examinations. |
| Medical Sciences | The Medical School administers a number of prizes and scholarships for clinical medical students. |
| Medieval and Modern Languages | Prizes are available from the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages. |
| Philosophy | Prizes are available, rewarding outstanding work submitted for a dissertation, examination or thesis, as well as for overall performance. |
| Physics: undergraduate and graduate | Prizes are available to undergraduate students of Physics & Physics and Philosophy. Awards are also on offer to reward outstanding work for graduate research students of Condensed Matter Physics. |
| Politics | Undergraduate prizes are available in a range of Politics subjects. |
| Regent's Park College | The Oxford – BNU Award in Creative Writing is open to all students at the University of Oxford. |
| Spanish studies | The de Osma Studentship is open to students concerned with Spanish studies, such as Spanish art history, Spanish language and literature, Spanish history, geography, or archaeology. |
| Theology and Religion | Several prizes are awarded on the basis of performance in Preliminary, Honour School (including Joint Schools) and taught postgraduate examinations. |
