This section of the Student Gateway describes the purpose and processes for key stages that you must pass through during your research course.
Research degree stages
The key stages that you must pass through during your research course are outlined in this section. Depending on the type and structure of your research course, these will include transfer, confirmation and submission.
Different processes will apply for students readmitted after a taught master's course. The Examination Regulations are the authoritative source for degree stages. Your course handbook will also provide course-specific information about the key milestones leading to submission. If you have any queries about any of these stages, contact your Graduate Studies Assistant.
