Solutions
MyOxford shows an error message or is blank when I try to open it.
If you have previously successfully downloaded and opened MyOxford,
- Check that your internet connection is working
- If it does, check the status of the MyOxford service
- If the service shows as available and working as usual, please report the problem through IT Self Service.
- If you see that the service is Partial or Unavailable, please try again later and please do not report the problem to us as we will be already aware.
My college dashboard does not display or a different college dashboard is being displayed
Your student information may not have been fully updated yet. If this problem occurs when accessing your college systems on other devices, please report this to your college administrator and retry when resolved. If the problem occurs only on MyOxford, please report it through IT Self Service.
My Division, Department, Faculty, School is not shown / unavailable.
- MyOxford does not currently display this information as it focuses on the central services and those related to the college.
- The MyOxford team will be keen to hear your views on what information would be beneficial to students and invite you to send us a comment via the ‘Send Feedback’ form. On mobile, press the three parallel lines at the top left on the screen and go to ‘Send Feedback’. On desktop, you can find the ‘Send Feedback’ button at the top left of the screen, under the University of Oxford logo.
As you may be aware, Saïd Business School have a number of systems exclusive to their department. At this moment in time, these systems have not been linked in MyOxford which means you won't be able to see your emails, calendar, Canvas, assessment and careers resources. This will affect your University dashboard, but you will still have access to library resources, University news, and information pages through the light blue and green tiles. Your college dashboard will remain unaffected and should continue to work smoothly.
However, development is ongoing, and we welcome any feedback you may have.
In the meantime, please refer to the Saïd Business School’s Canvas at: https://canvas.sbs.ox.ac.uk/.
I don’t like the displayed tile colours or tile size.
You can configure how you view your MyOxford dashboard. The 'Personalise' button is available on the top left of the header on a desktop and behind the 3 dots on the main screen of the downloadable app. This allows you to personalise your layout settings, themes, tile sizes and position.
I don’t see some of the tiles that I would expect to see on the dashboard.
Some the tiles are hidden by default but can be displayed should you choose to. You can view hidden tiles by going to ‘Personalise’ and then pressing ’Hidden Tiles’. The 'Personalise' button is available on the top left of the header on a desktop and behind the 3 dots on the main screen of the downloadable app.
I made some changes to MyOxford but want to set it back to the original configuration.
Resetting MyOxford to restore the screen to its default setting is straightforward and does not result in data loss. To reset, go to ‘Personalise’ and then press ’Reset Settings’. The 'Personalise' button is available on the top left of the header on a desktop and behind the 3 dots on the main screen of the downloadable app.
Within my college dashboard, some of my college’s systems or links to resources appear to be missing or do not work as expected.
- Each college has its own unique dashboard and what is displayed may vary significantly between colleges. Students from different colleges are likely to notice these dissimilarities when comparing available systems and resources. This is typically not a problem with MyOxford but variation in the student experience between colleges.
- If a particular displayed tile within your college dashboard does not appear to be working but others are functioning correctly, please refer to your college IT team or the person/group that supports you within your college. An effective way to check this yourself is to use another device (if available) and try to access the service or resource outside MyOxford.
- If you are unsure, please report the problem through IT Self Service.
My main University Calendar and/or email is not displaying or updating.
- Before reporting a problem, please try to access your email or calendar from outside the MyOxford app. This will help identify if the problem is specific to the service OR MyOxford
- Note: You may have colour-coded your Microsoft 365 calendar and noticed that it does not display in the same way once it has been integrated into the My Calendar tile. Unfortunately, at this time, MyOxford does not support Microsoft 365 personalisation however, we are working to improving this functionality in the future. We apologise for any inconvenience.
- If you are experiencing issues with your calendar outside MyOxford, you may find help and support using the following link https://www.it.ox.ac.uk/find-help-and-support
- If the problem is specifically accessing calendar and email via MyOxford, please report it through IT Self Service.
The Canvas tile does not work.
- You must be set up to use Canvas before you can access course materials. You can test this by going to https://login.canvas.ox.ac.uk/ and attempting to access by clicking ‘Oxford Users’. If you can login to Canvas directly but not via MyOxford, please report this using IT Self Service and the team will investigate.
- Note: If you can access Canvas via the tile but your course materials are missing, this is not a MyOxford problem. Please refer the issue to your course administrator.
I cannot access CareerConnect.
- CareerConnect requires users to register before access is granted and a warning stating ‘Permission Denied’ may be displayed. If this is the case, visit the Careers Service website for more information.
- If the link in MyOxford to CareerConnect is not working, please report the problem through IT Self Service.

I cannot log in to Teaching Management System (TMS).
- TMS requires students to register before access is granted and a warning stating ‘Unauthorised Access’ will be displayed. If this is the case, follow the on-screen instructions to request access.
- If the link in MyOxford to TMS is not working, please report the problem through IT Self Service.
I have a problem using Maps and Accessibility.
- Please note that Maps and Access does NOT currently support GPS locations, and it operates as a static map without indicating your current position.
- For all other queries, If the problem is specifically accessing calendar and email via MyOxford, please report
I cannot access Moodle.
- Moodle is an alternative Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to the centrally supported Canvas VLE. It is used by the Mathematical Institute, the Department of Computer Science and some short courses run by the Department for Continuing Education.

Accessibility of this website
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible, for example:
- Some pages have images with identical links to their adjacent heading link.
- Some headings are not hierarchical and there are multiple level-one headings on the same page.
- Some tabs are not announced as tabs and do not have a programmatic tab status.
- Some dropdown menus do not have programmatically determined labels and rely solely on visual labels Some text links are only indicated by colour.
- Some pages have low colour contrast text or insufficient colour contrast between non-text elements.
- Some pages do not reflow at high zoom levels of 400% Some functionality cannot be accessed by keyboard.
- Some buttons have identical link text and their link purpose is unclear.
- Some administrative functionality relies solely on drag and drop functionality.
- Some interactive elements across the site have unclear or missing programmatic labels.
- Some toggle buttons and switches do not have a defined role/state.
These issues may hinder your ability to navigate around the application or hinder your ability to complete certain tasks. If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Technical information about this website’s accessibility
The University of Oxford is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
This website is non-compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to ‘the non-compliances’, listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
The following list of defects was provided to the university by the vendor in June 2024 and reviewed by IT Services Testing Team.
Non-text content (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1): Within the app administration, each app image tile has the same link as the heading link that is adjacent. This means keyboard and screen reader users have to tab through and hear each link twice.
Info & Relationships (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1): Tabs: These are not announced as tabs, nor can the tab status be programmatically determined. This means that screen readers may not be able to understand what these elements are or how they are supposed to work. This includes the tabs under Profile Settings, and for administrator users impacts the Landing Page Rules.
Info & Relationships (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1): Labels: In the administration platform, some of the dropdown menus are not programmatically associated with their visible labels. This means they are announced without the context of the label and screen reader users may struggle to work out what they are.
Use of Colour (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.1): On the Privacy Policy and News pages some text links are only indicated by colour. This may be imperceivable to some users with colour blindness or visual impairments
Contrast (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.3): In some areas of the site, insufficient colour contrast may presents challenges for users with low vision or colour blindness. Examples of insufficient colour contrast include:
- The hint text used in the search bar within the Mail feature
- On the calendar app, the blue current time against the grey background, the darker grey times/dates on the light grey background, and the white text on blue background to indicate the active day
Reflow (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.10): At high zoom levels of 400%+ some pages (e.g. library account) do not reflow and as a result the page content is lost off screen.
Non-text contrast (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.4.11): Some screens have insufficient colour contrast between non-text elements. For example on the student dashboard the search box and search icons have insufficient colour contrast against the beige background.
Keyboard (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.1.1): Some functionality cannot be accessed using a keyboard:
- In the newsroom, some of the news article links are not keyboard accessible because they do not have a <href> attribute to specify the URL of the page the link goes to.
- On the Administration Platform, when filtering feedback by date, the ‘x’ button to remove the date filters is not keyboard operable. As a result, keyboard users would have to either select another date range or refresh the page to clear the selected dates.
- On the Administration Platform within the admin alerts, when setting up an AdHoc alert, the buttons to format the text in the content text box are not keyboard accessible. Sighted keyboard users would be unable to access these options and screen reader users would be unaware they exist.
Focus Visible (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.7): Some interactive elements are missing a visible focus indicator:
- Within the email application, the button to delete an email and the button to load more emails have no visible focus.
- For Administrators, within the dashboard management page, the button to expand the options for each dashboard has no visible focus indicator when tabbing through the page.
Dragging Movements (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.5.7): For administrators working in the content management area of the platform, some content within the dashboards and landing page rules pages relies on drag and drop functionality. There is no alternative way to perform this action with a mouse or keyboard.
Name, Role, Value (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2): Some interactive elements across the site have unclear or missing programmatic labels meaning screen reader users will struggle to understand what these elements are for:
- When using the calendar feature, the arrow buttons to navigate through the calendar have no programmatic labels and are simply announced as “button”.
- Administrators using the date filtering in the Feedback screen to filter responses will find the arrow buttons to navigate through the calendar have no programmatic labels and are simply announced as “button”.
- When configurating dashboards, administrators will encounter unclear labelling (“menu button collapsed sub menu”) when using the 3-dot button that expands a sub-menu for each dashboard.
- Administrators using the Manage Content screen will find that the arrow buttons to expand a sub-menu for each content type currently have the same unclear label “expand child items button”.
Name, Role, Value (WCAG 2.2 success criterion 4.1.2): Administrators may encounter switches or toggle buttons which do not have a programmatically defined role/state. As a result users may be unclear what the button is for nor whether it is in an on/off state:
- When using the Manage Media section, the buttons to change the layout/presentation of the content have no programmatic labels and so are announced only as “button”.
- On the ‘Send an adhoc alert’ screen, similar issues occur for the mode switch, the priority switch, the pop-up switch and the on/off switch for post notifications.
- The state and role of the switch button to Enable/Disable each feature on the Features screen is unclear as they have not been programmatically defined or associated with the visual label.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
Whilst we are still in the pilot phase of delivery, the University of Oxford is working with our third party supplier, ReadyEducation, to prioritise these known accessibility issues and develop a roadmap for getting them addressed. The current roadmap is working towards resolving the following issues:
- Resizing Content (1.4.10)
We have also incorporated our own accessibility checklist into our delivery plan to ensure all new features being added throughout the pilot are tested against key accessibility requirements.
As part of our rollout to the wider University, we are having an external third-party accessibility audit completed in 2025.
In the meantime, we welcome feedback via email to [email protected] from any users who encounter accessibility issues whilst using the ‘MyOxford’ application.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 22 May 2024. It was last reviewed on 16 January 2025.
This website was last tested on 20 May 2024 against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.
The test was carried out the University of Oxford’s IT Services Testing Team who reviewed an accessibility audit which had previously been carried out by Web Usability on the ‘MyDay’ application on 27 October 2023. You may request, via the supplier ReadyEducation, a copy of the MyDay accessibility report.
Further specific accessibility checks relating to branding/customisation on the ‘MyOxford’ instance have been carried out by the IT Services Testing Team using a combination of manual and automated accessibility testing techniques under guidance from the Head of Digital Accessibility.
