Regent's Park College
About the college
Regent’s Park is known for its friendly atmosphere and strong sense of community. It has a thriving student population of around 300, including undergraduates, graduates, ordinands, and international visiting students.
Regent’s Park is the largest of the university’s six Permanent Private Halls (PPHs), and as such is fully part of the collegiate structure of the University of Oxford. PPHs and colleges admit and provide for students in exactly the same way, and their students study for the same University degrees. Regent’s Park specialises in the humanities and social sciences.
The main technical difference between the PPHs and colleges is in their governance structures, but this is a distinction that makes no difference to students. PPHs tend to be smaller than colleges and offer fewer subjects. The smaller size of a PPH community can be an advantage, as it may allow you to integrate quickly and get to know the tutors and other students.
College facilities
Library and IT services
The library at Regent’s Park, open 24/7, has core collections in humanities and social science subjects, and its theology collection is one of the best in the University. There are also computers and printing facilities in the library.
Regent’s is also home to The Angus Library and Archive which contains more than 70,000 items relating to the life and history of Baptists in Britain and the wider world, and to the David Nicholls Memorial collection - a smaller library specialising in the politics and theology of the Caribbean and Haiti.
The college has some study space available specifically for graduate students and is well located near to faculty and other libraries.
Computers are available in the library, and all areas of the college have Wi-Fi access.
Sport, music and college facilities
There are numerous societies and sports teams based at Regent’s Park College which are open to all students. The University has good sports facilities available and graduates are eligible to join all University clubs.
Over the last few years, the college has been well represented in University drama, and students have also become leading figures in some of the University’s most prestigious societies.

Welfare
Regent’s Park College takes the health and wellbeing of its members very seriously, and the college has a range of informal and formal resources to help students if things are proving difficult. The college’s small size means that its students and staff form a close-knit community, where each individual is highly valued. The welfare team includes a college counsellor, and peer-support–trained members of the MCR, and has strong links with departmental welfare contacts.
MCR
All students at Regent’s Park College are automatically members of the Junior Common Room. In addition, graduate and mature students are offered membership of the Middle Common Room (MCR), which is the social hub of graduate life.
The room is equipped with computers, a television and coffee- and tea-making facilities. The MCR organises a range of social events and seminars throughout the academic year.
Accommodation and meals
Accommodation
Some accommodation is available, mainly for first-year graduate students through nomination agreements with the University, though accommodation cannot be guaranteed.
Meals
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are available in the college’s dining hall from Monday to Friday during term. A good choice of hot and cold food is offered at lunch and dinner.
On each Friday evening during term, dinner is known as ‘Formal Hall’: students and staff wear gowns and dress more formally, and students may bring their own wine to the tables for these meals. Formal Halls are a social high point of the college week, and are usually preceded by drinks in the MCR.

Regent’s Park College is located in the heart of the city. The college's beautiful quad offers a retreat from the bustle of the city but the college's students are just minutes from everything they will need for their graduate studies.
