About the college
Pembroke College warmly welcomes graduate students from all over the world to study a wide variety of courses. With over 250 graduate students on course, there is a thriving graduate community and plenty to get involved in.
The college has a strong commitment to graduate students and supports many of its graduates through Pembroke scholarships, including on-course awards for students in need of financial support. All graduate students can access the generous Dean of Graduates' fund for field trips, conferences and other research- related costs and apply for travel scholarships and grants offered by the college.
The college's newest quad is host to a state-of-the-art lecture theatre, seminar rooms, café and art gallery. These spaces encourage interaction between its undergraduate, graduate and teaching communities and are regularly used by graduates for academic and social events.
All graduates are allocated a College Advisor from among its academics; graduates are encouraged to have regular meetings with their advisors, who take a strong interest in graduates' academic achievements and personal development. Graduate students may also take the opportunity to mentor undergraduates through a JCR/MCR mentoring scheme.
The Academic Director and Deputy Academic Registrar are also available for consultation and advice. The college also has a wide range of welfare support available, provided by a broad range of people in a variety of roles, including a Welfare and Wellbeing Co-ordinator who organises regular wellbeing activities.

Library and IT services
The college's library is open 24 hours a day during term time, offering access to the University’s e-journals and databases and a rare books collection - including the Samuel Johnson archive - alongside the main collection.
Wi-Fi access is available in the library and throughout the college and network connections are provided in all graduate rooms.
Sport, music and college facilities
The college's graduate community shares sporting facilities with the JCR, including one of the most active and successful boat clubs in Oxford, tennis courts and playing field. The MCR has its own football team for graduates.
There is a college art gallery and termly soirees, visits to art exhibitions and theatre trips are organised by the MCR and a drama group and arts week is organised by the JCR.
The college has a music society and a choir, with pianos available for practice at main site and the annexe. Students also have opportunities to perform at regular concerts.
Facilities for disabled students
Pembroke welcomes disabled students. In recent years the college has made many improvements to the existing facilities in order to improve access for disabled students, including a lift to the dining hall for wheelchair users and a number of student rooms which have been specifically adapted.
It is recommended that prospective students contact the college before making an application to discuss their specific needs.
MCR
The Pembroke MCR is a vibrant and inclusive community organising a good mix of social activities throughout the year. Pembroke's graduates have their own set of rooms for relaxing, studying and socialising on the main site including a bar, TV/DVD and kitchen facilities.
Events include guest speaker nights, exchange dinners with other colleges and more informal activities such as countryside walks, film nights and performance nights.
Accommodation and meals
Accommodation
Pembroke has a range of accommodation to offer graduates, including en-suite rooms, single rooms a small number of self-contained flats available to graduate couples. There is currently no accommodation suitable for graduates with children.
A large building project at the Geoffrey Arthur Building (GAB) Annexe, completed in 2023, created a number of new graduate en-suite bedrooms (four of which are fully accessible), a small number of studio flats for couples, a common room and a standalone building of flats for academics.

Meals
During term time, lunch and dinner is available in Hall and snacks and light meals are served in the café throughout the year. Shared kitchen facilities for self-catering are provided at the GAB annexe and close to graduate rooms on the main site.

Location
The college was founded in 1624 and occupies both old and modern buildings just off St Aldate's, in central Oxford.
