The Pitt Rivers Museum has a large collection of lace and lacemaking equipment in the collections, much of it from the local area. View selected samples on special display in the Conservation Laboratory and then learn the skills in this one-day workshop to make your own.

Suitable for all levels and abilities, the focus of this workshop is on the enjoyment of making lace. Complete beginners will be introduced to the basic stitches and produce a sample to use as a bookmark. More advanced students are welcome to work on individual projects, either to start something new or to get help progressing a current project.

Teaching is on an individual basis with everyone working to their own level and no pressure to keep up - just relax and enjoy making lace!

Equipment and materials are provided for the complete beginner but if you have your own equipment, please bring it along. Notes will also be provided, along with suggestions for further study.
