More Than A Thousand Words: The Power and Pitfalls of Wildlife Images

While powerful images can captivate and inspire action, we still have much to learn about using imagery effectively for wildlife conservation. In this talk at the Museum of Natural History, Dr Diogo Veríssimo, Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, will review our current understanding of how images are used to promote wildlife conservation, present recent research on which images have the most impact, and discuss the emerging challenges posed by generative AI and image manipulation.

Give it a Grow: Why gardening might just change your life

Martha Swales is an urban gardener, social media influencer with more than one million followers, TV producer, and a Mansfield College alumna. At this Mansfield Public Talks event, Martha will discuss science, gardening tips, and how growing food – even in small and transient spaces – can connect us to nature and bring joy. Martha has been growing food for over 12 years, after studying Human Sciences at Mansfield. Her television career and love of food have taken her from bakeries in Cairo to hawker markets in Singapore.

Part of the Trinity Recitals season, this programme links together romantic composers inspired by the writer of one of the great 19th century violin sonatas, César Franck. Elena Urioste (violin) was recently selected as a BBC New Generation Artist and, since first appearing with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age 13, has made acclaimed debuts with major orchestras throughout the world.
