Marvellous Meadows Family Day

As part of the UK Meadows Day and Fascination of Plants Day 2025, Harcourt Arboretum will open our meadows to the public, offering bug hunting, nature crafts and guided tours. This event will celebrate the beauty and importance of wildflower meadows and the creatures that inhabit them. We will be celebrating both wild and domesticated grasses during meadow day. Visitors will have the chance to try out some wheat craft and create their own Harvest Knot—also known as a ‘Countryman’s Favour’ or Lover’s Token! This is a special part of farming tradition where young men would plait straw together into a woven knot as a token at harvest time for their loved one.
