At different times, artists have represented aspects of The Creation in terms of their own times and conventional aspects of picture making.

The startling 12th-century tapestry from Girona portrays Biblical imagery with some humour. Michelangelo’s God, in fresco on the Sistine ceiling, is a fierce creator, whereas Blake’s mathematician is both powerful and reflective.

The talk explores many aspects of this fascinating subject to include the depiction of Adam and Eve who provided suitable themes not only in terms of their nudity, but the philosophy behind the Fall.

Juliet's second art history talk is on Sat 12 Jul: Creation to Transformation: Artists', Myths and Dreams

Part of our Create & Transform season of events.
